Starladder Season X is back

The biggest spectacle of the year is just about to start, but we already take a look ahead as Starladder has graced us with a sneak peak of what will be their tenth anniversary season. Starladder Season X is set to begin just a mere month after the International and will once again feature teams from all around the world.

DK the Starladder Season 9 Champion

For the tenth season of the Star Series, the teams will be pitted against one another in four different divisions: ‘Europe & CIS’, ‘North & South America’, ‘Southeast Asia’ and ‘China’, once again separating the different regions similarly to the previous installment. Starladder continues to expand as they morph the South Korean division from season nine into a brand new SEA division, allowing teams such as my Titan and my Arrow to take part in the Star Series for the first time. Also following the footsteps of the previous season, 8 teams will advance on to the LAN Finals: Four from the Europe/CIS region, two from China, one from SEA and one from America.

The battle is set to commence in late August with an online part lasting for six weeks, culminating in the LAN Finals on 23rd to 26th of October. All the matches will be broadcasted via Twitch.tv in multiple different languages, and as usual, there will be a Starladder ticket available in Dota 2 store for the in-game enthusiasts as well as for those who would like to show their support for Starladder. We'll keep you up to date as soon as more information surfaces.

CIS get their visas approved on the fourth try

For about one and a half weeks, it looked dire for the chinese newcomers cn CIS to compete in this year's International, the largest eSports tournament ever. Now, all of their visas got approved on their fourth try by a friendly Dota 2 playing officer.

Just this morning, cn CIS finally got their visas approved and are now ready to go in to this years main event of Dota 2. Appearantly, an officer, who played Dota himself helped the team out:

"Fourth try, everyone passed. When I found out the visa was approved I was almost in tears~~~The officer understood Dota2...all his questions were about dota2, asking me my ID and when our team was made. Thank you for everyone's prayers, and everyone who helped out~~~except we haven't practiced for 10 days, gotta go back and practice" - June, CIS

The promising chinese teams suffered from a long period of uncertainity whether they could attend the International, but in the end it all worked out. This was a reoccuring issue for all of the Internationals, where some team always had some sort of visa problems. This shows, that there is still a bit to go, until gaming is accepted in the same way as "normal" sports, however, there have been major steps of improvement in the past few months.

CIS Visas Denied For a Third Time

A couple days ago, CIS Game announced that their visas had been denied for a first time. This wasn't much of a problem as Malaysia Arrow Gaming faced the same issue but were able to get their visas approved in time. However, China CIS hasn't had the same amount of luck and their visa applications have been denied for a third time. With TI4 approaching, this might become a real problem.
According to China Lin "June" Shiyang, the manager of the team and Germany Dominik "Black^" Reitmeier, the team's veteran, have had no problems in getting their visas approved and they are good to go. However, the four youngest members of the team have had their applications denied over and over again. At this point they have contacted Valve, Perfect World, and the Chinese Government to help them out with their application. They have promised to apply again in a couple days. However, in a tweetGermany Black^ said that the tournament might end sooner than expected. While many are hopeful that this tweet was talking about the World Cup match between Algeria and Germany (as Germany was having a tough time during the match), it is more than likely that he is referring to his team's current situation. It is very possible that if their visa applications don't get approved soon, they won't be able to attend TI4 and play in the Wild Card match.
This is one of many problems qualifying teams have faced with visa approval. Is it possible that Valve will consider moving their biggest tournament, The International, to a more visa-friendly location next year? Only time will tell. We at DotaCinema sincerely hope that China CIS' visas get approved in time to participate in TI4.
