The race to qualify for ESL One continues at a furious pace, with the
Asian 'Battle Royale' qualifiers due to take place this weekend. With
dreams of playing in a 30,000-seater stadium at stake, Zephyr, Invasion
and MiTH all join the fierce fight for a spot.
With national qualifiers having concluded, sixteen teams remain for the 'Battle Royale' stage of qualification, which will see the teams split into a quartet of four groups, to play out in a round robin format on May 3rd. The top two teams from each group will then go into the elimination bracket on the 4th, with the two squads left standing after that making their way into the final part of the Asian qualifiers.
Group A seems to be the strongest group of the four, boasting some of
the fiercest teams in the region, including the Indonesian duo of Rex Regum Quon and Zero Latitude, but also the dangerous Everlast. nAra sTacks round out the group, being the underdogs in a very tough group.
You would imagine that Mineski will be happy with their draw in Group B, although they will need to watch out for Assail, who caused a stir by knocking out First Departure earlier in the tournament. StarsBoba are a familiar name who will also be in with a shout, while White Flag Bear will round out the group.
There are a few unfamiliar names in Group C, namely TongSing who will be aiming to put Cambodian Dota on the map. In a surprise, one of the teams who made it through the Korean qualifiers was Poker Face who have a former BirdGang player Febby among their squad. The biggest threats in the group are FIFA, formerly known as Spirit Gaming and the well-established Invasion.
All eyes will be on Zephyr in Group D as they aim to translate their success in Korea onto a bigger stage, but they will have to earn it in a strong group that also contains two formidable opponents in MiTH Trust and Excreation. impreZa are the underdogs of the group, but they will be aiming to navigate their way into the elimination stage.

The elimination bracket will consist of the four group winners and runners-up in a single elimination format. The final two join the elite of the SEA region alongside the second and third place finishers from the Chinese qualifiers. You can find out more details on the ESL website.
